Folajimi Mohammed is a trained lawyer with strong global academic foundation—LL.B. (Hons), University of Kent (UK), 2001; LL.M. (Hons), Fordham Law School (New York), 2002; B.L., Nigerian Law School, 2004. He began his legal practice at some of Nigeria’s top-tier law firms –from Chief FRA Williams Chambers, where he was an intern, to Ajumogobia & Okeke, and Jackson, and Etti & Edu, where he specialized in corporate management, commercial litigation, and regulatory advisory. Folajimi Mohammed is also a seasoned legislator, energy reform advocate, and legal practitioner with an extensive track record in governance, corporate leadership, and commercial law. He served two consecutive terms as a Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Ikeja Constituency I from June 2015 to May 2023. During this period, he notably chaired the House Committee on Energy and Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas.
In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in shaping the State’s energy landscape through impactful legislation and policy advocacy.
Amongst his notable achievements, he sponsored and successfully defended the Lagos State Electric Sector Reform Bill, a pioneering law that positioned Lagos as the first state in Nigeria to embrace off-grid power generation. The bill laid the foundation for embedded power schemes, instituted frameworks to combat energy theft, and led to the creation of key regulatory bodies such as the Lagos State Electricity Board and the Lagos State Embedded Power Council. He also sponsored the bill establishing the Lagos State Oil and Gas Producing Regions Development Commission, designed to support sustainable development and equitable energy distribution.
An entrepreneur at heart, he co-founded AETAS, a boutique law firm, and The Gulbenkian, a multidisciplinary professional services network (2006–2015), blending legal insight with strategic consultancy. Simultaneously, he served as Managing Director of Knightsbridge Dredging Limited and led several ventures in entertainment and corporate hospitality, including Swoops, The Atelier Lounge, and The Pitch.
Folajimi Mohammed who is currently the Founder and CEO of Portland Group, a leading force in Nigeria’s gas and clean energy sector, comprising Portland Gas Limited, Flash Gas Limited, and Eco Green Generators Limited, is a distinguished energy sector strategist with deep expertise in Compressed Natural Gas(CNG), Liquified Petroleum Gas(LPG), and gasto-power systems, advancing innovative infrastructure and sustainable energy solutions across Nigeria.
Throughout his diverse career, he has demonstrated an exceptional command of corporate management, financial discipline, commercial intelligence, and enterprise coordination.
